![](BLOG/2025/05/attachments/starting-over-with-obsidian-publish.webp) Ok, I'm back. This post was originally published on [my personal blog](https://stranianelli.com/starting-over-with-obsidian-publish), where I chronicle my journey with tech and writing. It's been quite a few months since [my last post](https://blog.stranianelli.com/my-journey-into-drawing). In the meantime, our lives, Iaina's and mine, have moved on –– we even finally managed to buy a house! 🎉. Oh, and then I decided to **move the blog. Yes, once again.** But this time I didn't bring all the old posts with me: I left them at the old address ([blog.stranianelli.com](https://blog.stranianelli.com/)). Over time, my blog has found a home in various places. For a while, it was a blog on Altervista, then I moved to WordPress. I was happy for a while, but then things started to feel constricting. If I'm not mistaken, I also tried Blogger. At a certain point, I realized I didn't really have **full control over what I was writing.** Not that I've written that much, but I started to feel uneasy at the prospect of losing what I had written due to the whims of any platform. I looked around and **fell in love with Markdown.** I moved my blog to GitHub and [started using Jekyll](https://blog.stranianelli.com/perche-sono-passato-a-jekyll). I was really happy with it for a while. But then I decided I wanted more and started to customize my blog more and more. And [I switched to SvelteKit](https://blog.stranianelli.com/sveltekit-et-github-pages-english) (when it wasn't stable yet). And then to Svelte. And I started dedicating a lot of time to the coding part. **==Less to writing.==** So, what now? Now I'm in the **"[Obsidian](https://obsidian.md/)" phase**. For, I don't know, about two years now, I've been using Obsidian quite frequently to keep my journal, manage my notes, and jot things down. **Obsidian is becoming increasingly central to my creative and work life** – which, in the meantime, has had its own shake-ups. I often found myself writing small tutorials, noting things down, and having ideas for the Blog. But I didn't always have the desire, or the time, but more the desire, to rewrite everything to then publish it. The paradoxical thing is that both my blog and my Obsidian vault were written in Markdown. I've said it before, I fell in love with this format because **it's ==independent of any specific software.==** All I need is a notepad, and I can write, edit, and correct a post or a note. Publishing, however, was more complicated. Then, at a certain point, I realized **I had the solution right under my nose, literally.** And it's called **[Obsidian Publish](https://obsidian.md/publish)**. That is, the ability to publish my Obsidian notes on a blog. It's not free, but it's not too expensive either (it's about €10 per month). And so here I am. This is the first post of the new version of my blog. It serves as a welcome, but also as a test. I've modified Obsidian's JS code and CSS stylesheet, and it's time to find out if everything works properly. But there will be time to talk about that. For now, I hope this new setup will allow me to **==get back to writing more regularly.==** See you around. 👋
